"Who are you callin' a Succubus?!"

There is a new challenge at Haunted Design House - Macabre Monday and the theme was quite intriguing for me:
We were to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece that depicts a Succubus in one form or another.
Just what is a Succubus you may ask?
In folklore traced back to medieval legend, a succubus (plural succubi) is a female demon or supernatural being appearing in dreams, who takes the form of a human woman in order to seduce men, usually through sexual intercourse. The male counterpart is the incubus. Religious traditions hold that repeated intercourse with a succubus may result in the deterioration of health or even death.
In modern fictional representations, a succubus may or may not appear in dreams and is often depicted as a highly attractive seductress or enchantress; whereas, in the past, succubi were generally depicted as frightening and demonic.
Interesting!
Here is my creation:

The image is from Ike's World and it was a freebie.
Used Distress Inks to create the background: Black Sooth, Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Barn Door, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed. Stamped the image from a Tim Holtz stamp set using Archival Ink.
To create that glossy finish, I covered the entire surface with embossing ink and clear embossing powder, and applied heat with the heat gun. That's it, really easy.
I would like to enter this tag in the following challenges:
Thanks!

Poe-Etic Hop!

I can't believe the day has finally arrived!
Every month we, at the Smeared and Smudged Forum have a members blog hop.
If you have hopped over from Black Dragon, then you are in the right place. If you just happened to stop by and would like to join our hop from the beginning, please go to Terra  and follow along.
Each designer along the way is featuring a themed project, be sure to visit all the stops and leave a comment
This month the theme is:
Poe-Etic
We're celebrating the great Edgar Allan Poe this month.
We have to create something using one of his poems!
Oh my, I could not make up my mind, then finally decided to create using El Dorado as inspiration:
El Dorado
Gaily bedight,
A gallant night
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of El Dorado.

But he grew old --
This knight so bold --
And -- o'er his heart a shadow
Fell as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like El Dorado.

And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow --
"Shadow," said he,
"Where can it be --
This land of El Dorado?"

"Over the Mountains
Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,"
The shade replied --
"If you seek for El Dorado."
Here is my creation:
I made a mixed media canvas.
Created a base for my work using pages of an old book, Mod Podge  and some gesso.  Added some color with distress inks ( Broken China, Barn Door).
I then distress a piece of tissue paper (Barn Door and Mustard Seed) and printed the El Dorado Map. Used Mod Podge to adhere to canvas. Added some details using Punchinella and Acrylic paints ( Red, Black and Gold).
The image is from Smeared Ink and it's called Masked - As Death, love the gold mask.
Added a golden (dorado) skull die cut to mark the El Dorado location on map.
Your next stop is Jane.
Here is the line up in case you get lost:

Challenge # 6 at Poisoned Peas Please! Second inspiration piece...

Hi everyone!!!
Welcome to our new challenge at Poisoned Peas Please, an alternative art challenge blog.
The theme for the sixth challenge is :
Dark Fairy Tales!
It is all about looking at that other side of the fairy tale, that side that's for grown up, might be darker, funnier, sexier, you decide! I'm sure we each have a different way of looking at this theme, and thats the fun part, be creative and feel free to express your artistic ideas.
You can use any image for this challenge and we would LOVE to see all types of creations (ex. cards, scrap layouts, fat book pages, artist trading cards, tags, boxes, bags, 3D ~ Altered Art or any other crafting projects that have some form of paper on them). This is a month long challenge.
Here my second card:

SmudgeFest Day 6...

It's Day 6 of the SmudgeFest!!!
The sixth challenge is called: Saturday's Song, we have to create an ATC using the song, Blackbird by The Beatles, as inspiration.
Here are the lyrics:

Blackbird - Beatles
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Here is my creation:

The image was a freebie from Smeared Ink.

SmudgeFest Day 3...

Day 3 of the SmudgeFest has arrived and wow, I am so late with my project, but I have to work, bah... I have more fun creating.
The third challenge is called: Wordy Wednesday, we have to create a project using words, no images allowed... that is a real challenge!
Lately I've been making ATC's and must admit that I love the creative process, they are so small yet there is so much artistic freedom.
Here is my creation:

The background was painted with water soluble oil pastels on watercolor paper. Added some details at the corners first using punchello as a stencil and Distress Stains (Picket Fence). Then added the white swirls, a rub on by Fancy Pants.
Added the saying, from As Death Digi Set from Smeared Ink and finished the borders with Black Sooth - Distress Ink.
Then added this embellishment from Tim Holtz Ideology ornaments collection.

Thanks!

Julia

SmudgeFest Day 2...

Day 2 of the SmudgeFest has arrived and wow, what challenge!
The second challenge is called: Trashy Tuesday, we have to create a project by upcycling some of our trash!
I love recycling and re-purposing, but most of my projects take forever to get finished, don't have that time with this challenge
Here is my creation:

recycled the tube from the red tape,  covered it with tissue paper using Mod Podge.

While it dried I used a epoxy clear sticker and the image: Thinker As Death to create the charm for my bracelet.
Tied it to the bracelet with some fibers.
